Backyard Haiku Week 14

That lugubrious

Groundhog can run like the wind

When a fox comes near

Birds sing up a storm,

As they wait for the feeder

To be replenished.

Old, white azalea,

How long have you been living

Hidden by the trees?

Crazy-ass robin‘s

Built a nest in the rose bush

right next to my chair!

No fox babies yet.

I wonder if momma’s found

A more private den.

Yay! Golden ragwort

Is beating back the ivy

And feeding the bees!

Cats watch from the door

As birds do mating dances

In the evening light
